JAMES & BEBE – THE PILGRIM’S REST, BATTLE
To be James and Bebe’s wedding photographer at The Pilgrim’s Rest was an absolute pleasure. Over the years, I’ve found Amy and the team at the 600 year old Hall House always and fully focused on the couple having the best possible experience. I met up with James and Bebe there a few weeks before their wedding. Together with Amy, we talked through the details of the day.
There were several key aspects to get right; my positioning and movements during the ceremony, a few important details and the timing of the band set – up. The initimate nature of the venue meant that my movements needed to be both quiet and perfectly timed to shoot from different angles. Together we agreed what would work so I could both move and be as unobtrusive as possible.
Bebe and I decided to bring my start time forward so I could photograph the few details she requested. For example her shoes and the ring box, before any guests arrived. This took pressure off Bebe – I was free to pick my moments without disturbing her and then move downstairs to be with guests.
The band was made up of James himself, Bebe’s father and friends. James being a sound engineer, he needed to make sure everything was set perfectly. Doing so pulled him away from guests and together with Amy, we worked out the best time to balance the conflicting demands.
Collaborative planning and flexibility made for a wonderful day which James and Bebe, family and friends enjoyed without any direction or interruption.
