Emily looked for a Hastings based product photographer. She got in touch and talked me through her ideas. In particular, her wish for creative collaboration. Furthermore, a useful heads-up that the shoot would require alot of props. I got my studio ready for an onslaught of colour. 

Emily came round with so many props it took a van to carry it all and several trips to get it in, but when it comes to creating the desired look, options are good and we had lots. Aside from the products themselves, we had everything from blue pasta to designer glasses to arrange and decide exactly what should line up with what. My taste is always towards the minimal, so collaborating with Emily was lots of fun. For example, jointly deciding how best to shoot a psychedelic picnic. How a beach spade should align nicely with a blue panel. In addition, taking into account the compositional impact of broken sticks of rock would probably have made for quite surreal listening.

Impenetrable conversations aside, for her designer products, it was immediately clear to both of us that azure blue really does kick as a backdrop.
